“This has always been a man’s world and none of the reasons that have been offered in explanation have seemed adequate.”
Simone de Beauvoir was born in 1908 in Paris and left in 1926 to study philosophy at Sorbonne. Her intellect was quickly realised and following a period of teaching, she became a writer.
Simone produced many renowned works throughout her life including essays, journals, novels and plays, the most famous being “The Second Sex” – an uncompromising critique of patriarchy.
